Alana learned to read when she gained an interest in books when she was young. She was interested in looking at books and flipping through the pages. When people read to her, it made her want to learn to read. As she learned to read, she got very excited and enthusiastic about reading books. Her parents and teachers helped her gain more reading skills. Reading is a very important skill to have. There are many, many reasons for reading. People for information, entertainment, education, communication, and other reasons. In order to be a good reader, it is important to read often, and to enjoy reading. The more a person reads, the more reading skills they gain. However, usually in order for someone to read a lot, they need to be interested in it. If someone doesn't like reading, they are most likely not going to do it often, and they will not develop the skills that someone who reads a lot will gain. For Alana, reading is easy when she is interested in what she is reading. When she likes what she is reading, she pays extra attention to things and understands more. If she is not interested, reading can sometimes be difficult. It might become challenging to keep focused on the writing. Most of the time she can find something interesting about what she's reading, but every once in a while she comes across a writing that she does not exactly enjoy reading, but she has to for educational purposes. When it comes to choosing books, Alana simply asks people for recommendations, or she randomly browses books until she finds one that looks like a good choice. When looking for a book, Alana seeks the quality of some sort of adventure, whether it was a journey of some sort, or even just the adventure of someone's life. This makes reading much more enjoyable for her. At home, Alana does not much, but a little reading. Sometimes she goes through phases where she reads a ton, and sometimes she goes through phases where she just reads a little bit. Then there are the times where she is just not reading any books for fun. Alana feels that reading is very important and for the most part she enjoys it. Although sometimes she does not enjoy it.
People learn to write by parents and teachers who teach them how to do it. At first, usually before someone becomes a writer, they become a reader, or have some sort of interest in books. Then they might get inspired to create a writing of their own. Like reading, there are many reasons to write. Writing can give information, entertain people, and is used a lot in communication. These are basically the same reasons why people read, which shows that reading and writing are equally important. In order for someone to write well, they need to be creative and also know what they are talking about when they write. If someone was to write a paper on something that they did not really know about, chances are the writing would not be the greatest. Creativity is also important because it allows the writer to make the writing how they want and they can express themselves, adding any personal touches to the writing. That way every single writing is special and unique. When Alana writes, she enjoys it most when she can just write random things that pop up in her mind. For example, in some of her past English classes, the teachers had her and her classmates write for around ten minutes or so without stopping. There was usually a prompt on the board to help people get started on their writing. What Alana likes about that kind of writing is that there are not really any rules that have to be followed, all she has to do is write whatever she feels like writing. When choosing a topic to write about, Alana tends to choose topics that interest her. That makes writing a whole lot easier and more enjoyable. Positive responses help Alana very much when it comes to her writings, although she does like some feedback on mistakes she could have made. She likes hearing she does well, but she also likes to know what she can improve on so that she can become better. At home Alana usually does write everyday, although it is mostly through texting. Sometimes she writes lists or reminders, which are very short writings. In general, Alana thinks of most of her writings as just okay. The first drafts usually have quite a few mistakes that need to be fixed, but after that, she believes her writings are alright. The more Alana works on her writings, the more she likes them, because she makes improvements to help the writing be better than before.
